Police to Citizen Application
The Smyrna Police Department is excited to unveil the Police to Citizen application for their SunGard records management software. Police-to-Citizen (P2C), allows the department to share public information with citizens in a central way and allows citizens to search police records and download reports. This application allows citizens to be more informed about the community and allows for more interaction and input into the protection of the community. Citizens can access this site through the web at P2c.townofsmyrna.org
On May 9th, officers from the Smyrna Police Department and two members of the Rutherford County EMS SORT Team executed search warrants at two locations in Smyrna after a lengthy investigation into illegal gambling.

| WE NEED YOUR HELP LOCATING A HIT AND RUN SUSPECT
On July 10th at about 10:45 pm, Smyrna Police responded to a crash in the area of South Lowry Street at the Nissan Boulevard overpass. The investigation revealed that a Honda scooter was traveling north on Lowry Street when it was struck from behind by a pickup truck. The scooter operator was knocked off of the scooter and struck by another vehicle. The scooter was dragged by the truck approximately ¼ mile to Stewart Drive when the truck left the roadway and struck an embankment. The suspect driver freed the scooter from the truck and left the scene.
The driver of the scooter was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center for treatment but was declared deceased shortly after arrival. She has been identified as Elise Denton (29) of Nashville and her family has been notified.
The suspect vehicle is believed to be a dark grey or pewter colored Chevrolet or GMC pickup truck. The truck should have damage to the front end and should be missing a driver-side headlight. White paint transfer from the scooter may also be present. We urge anyone with information regarding the suspect vehicle or the suspect driver to please contact Smyrna Police at 615-459-6644.
Ms. Engle is a white female, 36 years old, 5 ft. tall/120 lbs. with green eyes and brown hair.

Devon and Greenwood then tell the victims they can take care of the problem immediately by credit card or electronic access to banking accounts sent via MoneyGram. These individuals are currently wanted on twelve felony charges and two misdemeanor charges.

|Counterfeit Money and Theft
On July 19th, at approximately 6:45pm, a white female went into Target in Smyrna and purchased a Dyson vacuum cleaner. The woman paid using (9) nine counterfeit fifty dollar bills. She then exited the store and got into the passenger side of a silver four door vehicle. She is described as being 25-35 years old, 5` 7", 140 lbs, with brown shoulder length hair. |Man Defrauds Elderly Woman of Thousands of Dollars
In late May, this male subject passed a number of counterfeit checks in Smyrna and the surrounding area, defrauding an elderly female of several thousand dollars. Her bank account information was stolen and transferred to counterfeit checks listing a business in Alabama as the account holder. On 07/19/14 at approximately 11:55 pm, two white males armed with handguns forced entry into a Smyrna residence. Once inside, the two men claimed to be undercover police officers.
The residence was occupied by four females ranging from age 24 to 73 and two small children, ages 6 and 4. One of the men held the occupants at gun point while the other searched the residence. The two suspects fled the scene on foot and got into to a waiting vehicle. Luckily, no one was physically injured during this incident.
Landon Henley (20) was apprehended and charged with Aggravated Burglary, Aggravated Robbery, and Criminal Impersonation. He is currently being held at the Rutherford County Jail on a $300,000 bond.
David Shannon Engelbert (44) is still currently wanted by police and has outstanding arrest warrants for Aggravated Burglary, Aggravated Robbery, and Criminal Impersonation. Engelbert has a criminal history with violent offenses and should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information concerning his location should contact their local police or Detective Robert Monroe at the Smyrna Police Department at (615) 267-5455.
This is an ongoing investigation and police expect to make more arrests in this case.
RECOGNIZE THESE SUSPECTS?
On April 20, 2015, a white female and white male made several charges on a Credit Card that was stolen from a victim in Smyrna. Surveillance video of the two suspects using the card at several Smyrna locations was obtained. The female is 25-35 years old with brown hair, medium build, wearing blue jeans and a gray LaVergne High School t-shirt. The male is 40-50 years old with long hair and a long beard; he was wearing a dark colored camo jacket with a gray tank top and blue jeans. They were seen driving a white pickup truck. Anyone with information regarding these suspects is asked to contact Detective Rick Hall at the Smyrna Police Department at (615) 267-5012.
On March 3, 2015 several burglaries occurred in the Smyrna area.
One of the suspects stole credit cards and attempted to fraudulently use the cards in Columbia and Shelbyville.
This suspect’s photo was caught via a surveillance camera and we hope someone may recognize him from the attached photo.
He is a white male who is approximately 22 years of age and was seen in a black Nissan Versa that was driven by another unidentified individual.

Aggravated Assault Arrest
On Sunday January 18, repo agents working for Madison Imports attempted to repossess a
Ford Mustang at John Coleman Elementary School. The vehicle was leased to Satchel Serrano who was at the school playground with other subjects. When Mr. Serrano and his friend observed the repo agents taking the vehicle, he and his friends ran towards the parking lot. Mr. Serrano pulled out a gun and fired several shots at the repo agents, however nobody was injured.
Witnesses at the scene identified Mr. Serrano as the shooter and warrants were obtained. Serrano was arrested on 1/21/15 for 3 counts of Aggravated Assault. The firearm has been recovered and Serrano is currently being detained at the Rutherford County Detention Center on $60,000 bond.
On August 7, 2014 at approximately 7am, the Smyrna Police Department was called to a residence in Smyrna, in reference a male victim being shot at close range. Danny Wright died of his injuries a short time later while in route to Vanderbilt Medical Center. Mr. Wright was shot multiple times with a handgun at near point blank range. The suspect was described as a tall, skinny, black male, wearing a bandana on his face. He was driving a light colored, 2014 or 2015, Chevrolet Impala, 4 door sedan (see photo below). Robbery Prevention Tips for Businesses
Things to watch for:
- Suspicious persons or vehicles around the business, especially at opening and closing time.
- People wearing inappropriate clothing for the weather, such as heavy coats during warm weather.
- Try to have at least 2 employees open/close the business, especially if it is in hours of darkness.
- Try to use the most visible entrance to the business and avoid back/secluded entrances when opening/closing the business.
