Smyrna Fire Chief Bill Culbertson Recipient of ESRG Award

The Patriotic Employer Award was presented
on 25 August to Chief Bill Culbertson AwardCulbertson, Smyrna Fire Chief, on behalf of SSgt Robert Fletcher.  Also assisting was ESGR Volunteer Joe Thomas and CMSgt James Bagwell.  Sergeant Fletcher stated that Chief Culbertson always "had his back" and assured him that when away on military duty, which was frequently, his job is secure.  The award was presented by Lt Col Gretchen Anderson, Commander of the 236th Intel Sqdn, 118th Wing.  Her support and participation, along with Chief Bagwell's is a strong statement of the impressive command support provided to the mission of ESGR and employer recognition by the 118th Wing. Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense program, was established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve Component Service members and their civilian employers and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee's military commitment. ESGR is supported by a network of more than 3,750 volunteers in 54 committees located across all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam-CNMI (Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands), Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
